Summary
Captivating and action-packed, From Blood and Ash is a sexy, addictive, and unexpected fantasy perfect for fans of Sarah J. Maas and Laura Thalassa.

A Maiden…

Chosen from birth to usher in a new era, Poppy’s life has never been her own. The life of the Maiden is solitary. Never to be touched. Never to be looked upon. Never to be spoken to. Never to experience pleasure. Waiting for the day of her Ascension, she would rather be with the guards, fighting back the evil that took her family, than preparing to be found worthy by the gods. But the choice has never been hers.

A Duty…

The entire kingdom’s future rests on Poppy’s shoulders, something she’s not even quite sure she wants for herself. Because a Maiden has a heart. And a soul. And longing. And when Hawke, a golden-eyed guard honor bound to ensure her Ascension, enters her life, destiny and duty become tangled with desire and need. He incites her anger, makes her question everything she believes in, and tempts her with the forbidden.

A Kingdom…

Forsaken by the gods and feared by mortals, a fallen kingdom is rising once more, determined to take back what they believe is theirs through violence and vengeance. And as the shadow of those cursed draws closer, the line between what is forbidden and what is right becomes blurred. Poppy is not only on the verge of losing her heart and being found unworthy by the gods, but also her life when every blood-soaked thread that holds her world together begins to unravel.

Very rarely am I sucked into a book by the end of the first chapter, let alone by the completion of the first page. Never laid it down.

This book captured my attention and I found myself constantly reaching for my head phone when ever I had some down time so I could listen even it was just for 5 mins! Definitely recommend.

A great smutty romance. I really liked the characters, they were diverse and interesting as well as the world building. while you see the plot twist coming from a mile away it is developed in an interesting way.

At first i didnt know if id like it or not, but about 10 minutes in i was hooked. the narrator put the perfeft amount of emotion into the voices and even adds accents which makes it easy to tell who's talking. i love it so far. im already 11 hours in!

Wish I could give this a zero. Awful unless you’re a 5th grade girl. Found this book in the sci-if fantasy listings but it’s definitely a teen book. Tried it for a few hours thinking it would get better but it didn’t. If you’re an early teen girl and want to spend hours listening to teen girl angst then this is the book for you. Otherwise, find something, anything else.

A fun read, but the plot was lacking. While the story was a fun listen, I felt it was very predictable. Best part was the smut, and let’s be honest, that’s what I was reading it for anyway

If you like raunchy vampires/werewolf stories, then this is probably up your ally. Initially, I really liked the playfulness between the main characters and that, for once, the female was obviously wanted rather than having your typical dark and elusive character that constantly makes the protagonist pine over them while acting like a cold hearted "bad boy". I was actually excited that this book would be different. It had so much potential. The difference in his character was kind of refreshing as he was very flirty and direct. She was also strong, and I liked her character at the start. However, somewhere along the line, Poppy went from being daring, intelligent, and rebellious to simply put, stupid. As for the storyline itself, it is extremely slow. I could summarise the important aspects of the story within a few sentences quite easily. There is not that much depth or plot twists. The allure is mostly the chemistry between characters. Finally, I am mostly disappointed in the fact that this book does not indicate to the reader before buying it that it is a wolf/vampire story. I am very over that trend so when I eventually found out that is what it is actually about I was quite frustrated that I waited almost the entire book to realise it was just another regurgitated vamp/werewolf story. It was hard not to roll my eyes in the stereotypical events that followed, finding out about that, and the repetitive internal dialogues that went on and on right until the end. I have very little doubt that book two won't follow the same trends as most of the other stories around this topic. I have a few guesses as to where it is heading. However, I accidentally bought that book, so I guess I'll speed it up and see if I'm wrong

I really enhoyed the story, though I do not usually enjoy these types of fantasy romances. The plot and twists were sort of easy to see through from the beginning, and the main character was maybe a bit too naive, but honestly it follows how a teenager might behave so its not really a big deal. The story does not disapoint and I was thoroughly immersed in the story and gobbled it up in just two days. Good read, would recommend

I absolutely could not stop with this series. Not so spicy that it takes away from the story. The spice is just right for me and I am a sucker for a good vampire romance.

Was looking for a new adventure book/series. Although it is a catchy and easy read, I was not expecting the amount of soft porn involved. If you are listing to it as an audio book, have headphones.

I saw the plot twist coming from a mile away, but it’s still a captivating story. And the way it ended had me immediately purchasing book 2!

Once I started listening, I literally couldn’t stop. Usually I only listen on my long drive to and from work and occasionally when I’m cleaning. I had my ear buds in so much my ears hurt lol this book sucks you in and you just HAVE to know what happens next! It’s the kind of book you stay up too late listening to and it gives you exactly what you’re hoping for. I haven’t randomly selected a book this good in a long time.

Overall not a terrible book. But the writing is juvenile and the narration leaves something to be desired.
