Summary
Bono met his wife in high school, Park says.
So did Jerry Lee Lewis, Eleanor answers.
I’m not kidding, he says.
You should be, she says, we’re 16.
What about Romeo and Juliet?
Shallow, confused, then dead.
I love you, Park says.
Wherefore art thou, Eleanor answers.
I’m not kidding, he says.
You should be.

Set over the course of one school year in 1986, this is the story of two star-crossed misfits—smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try. When Eleanor meets Park, you’ll remember your own first love—and just how hard it pulled you under.

Have read the hard copy several times and enjoyed the audiobook version too. Great story of the intensity of first love with the backdrop of life’s daily challenges, friendship, aspirations and injustices. Love the back and forth varying the POV between Eleanor and Park. A story told with humor, care and insight.

This book was everything! I have not been a teenager for quite a long time but reading this took me back to those years so vividly. The fact that it was set in the 80's, in my era, was an added bonus. I fell in love with Park, I fell in love with the way he fell in love with Eleanor. I would love a sequel just to know how this love story continues. I wanted more. I want my daughter to read this but will I be setting her up for a love/boy that only exists on the pages of a book? What to do! Read more Rainbow Rowell : )

one of the best books i've ever listened/read... every character in this book has their own personality that everyone could relate to... the narrators justified how the characters should be look like. They presented each character well. i like how different voice for each character has.

The narrators made this book a great listen. Although the story itself was a little melodramatic for my usual taste, it was enjoyable with how the narrators approached it.

This book is so, so sweet. It's about two very real characters, who aren't perfect, but are perfect for each other. It's a refreshing departure from the Mary Sue characters in a typical teen love story. Rainbow Rowell is a master of creating female characters who are at once infuriating, frustrating, and entirely loveable. The two narrators do an amazing job.
