One of Bustle's Most Anticipated Fall Releases

Debut author Sarah Smith nails this fun and sexy rom-com where two office foes hammer out their differences to build a love that will last....

Emmie Echavarre is a professional faker. She has to be to survive as one of the few female employees at Nuts & Bolts, a power tool company staffed predominantly by gruff, burly men. From nine to five, Monday through Friday, she's tough as nails--the complete opposite of her easy-going real self.

One thing she doesn't have to fake? Her disdain for coworker Tate Rasmussen. Tate has been hostile to her since the day they met. Emmie's friendly greetings and repeated attempts to get to know him failed to garner anything more than scowls and terse one-word answers. Too bad she can't stop staring at his Thor-like biceps...

When Emmie and Tate are forced to work together on a charity construction project, things get...heated. Emmie's beginning to see that beneath Tate's chiseled exterior lies a soft heart, but it will take more than a few kind words to erase the past and convince her that what they have is real.

This was an okay story. The narrator had an interesting voice and enjoyed her performance. The story was nothing new and boring.

This was such a boring story. I generally love an enemies-to-lovers story, it's my favorite romantic trope, but this was about 7 hours longer than it needed to be. The conflicts were middling and the resolutions happened far too quickly. The obstacle that drives a (temporary) wedge between the burgeoning couple was so dumb and easily overcome it was pointless. To top it all off, Emmie is so very dull. She and her friends mention how 'tough' she is all the time, but it's all tell and very little show. And she's kind of awful, too. There's a secondary love interest introduced very early and she is clearly interested in him and acts as such. The second she decides she likes Tate, though, instead of handling it like an adult and saying that she's no longer interested, she's just mean to him without any real explanation. Then has the nerve to call him for help later. I kind of hate her. Overall, it's a disappointing story. See if you can find it from your local library for free and save the credit for something better.

This book was very satisfying with both the romance and comedy. I was addicted to listening to is, as the narrator Donnabella Mortel did a great job painting out the picture of the book. I really felt the emotion of this book to my core, I wanted to listen to more. I ended up looking for other books written by Sarah Smith and was surprised to find out this is her debut novel! She included modern day and old school dating commentary. I am still lost in the feelings this book gave me. I hope she writes other books, because I am a fan. This is a must read/listen to book!
