Summary
He's the inventor of Past-Tense TV (featuring "Got Smart," "Father Knew Best," and "It Was Left to Beaver"); the tireless crusader for such charities as the Center for Research into the Heebie Jeebies, Children of Parents with Bad Teeth, and the State Hospital for Those Who Felt All Right About a Year Ago; founder of the George Carlin Book Club (top titles: "How to Act Laid-Back During a Grease Fire," "Fill Your Life with Croutons," and "The Meaning of Corn"); and the only social commentator with the guts to point out that "the day after tomorrow is the third day of the rest of your life."Yes, George Carlin is back with more of what he does better than any other comic today: uproarious observations, laser-targeted crankiness, linguistic legerdemain, and inspired weirdness. ("If the shoe fits, get another just like it." "When you sneeze, all the numbers in your head go up by one.") Napalm & Silly Putty is just what his fans have been waiting for-another generous helping of notions, nonsense, assertions, assumptions, mockery, merriment, silliness, sarcasm, and, to be sure, plenty of disturbing references and toxic alienation. George wouldn't have it any other way.

Very funny, smarty, witty, and relevant to just about everything at some point. Extremely random… personally not my cup of tea, but that was kind of the whole MO, and to each their own. Great overall, though.

Great Audio Book, Carlin is funny and witty. He brings light to the obvious and how we humans can be ridiculous at times.

If you loved George Carlin, then you'll love this audiobook. It is always a pleasure to hear a comedian performing his own material and George was so intelligent and cynical. It was a great, short listen.

I found the humour to be very bitter, and in some cases just inappropriate. Maybe it is UK/US issue, but this guy is just not funny. The one or two things that were amusing, where also very old.

I have to say I found this very tedious. I was bitterly disapointed having heard great things. Carlin is just a moaning hippy full of ill-thought out ideas that tend towards the whimsical at best but never reach funny. I strongly suggest if you really want to hear arresting and insightful opinions on the world we live in you check out the works of Bill Hicks instead. George Carlin has opinions on cats and dogs, big deal!

Was just OK. This was more angry and less ironic. Bummer... Had high hopes!

Fun at times, at times just lame, but worth the listen

Great Book!!! George is funny to listen to, his ramblings are fun to follow. My favorite part was the part about flying, you will enjoy it....great book, would definitely recommend.

An excellent choice for any Carlin fan. His observations on life and death...and everything inbetween were brilliant and his delivery was perfect, as always.

I don't care for George Carlin usually. This CD reminded me why. If you aren't a true Carlin fan, I wouldn't recommended it.

I remember a time when I thought George Carlin was hilarious. But this collection barely made me crack a smile. I dutifully stuck it out through most of the first disc, then gave up. George comes off as just crude, mean, old, and bitter.

Like another listener, I ejected this CD within 15 minutes and sent it back. I was looking forward to some good laughs on a long road trip but this really didn't cut it. Very choppy, disjointed cracks, like listening to a series of unrelated one liners. Not even good one liners, more geared towards your average potty mouthed 13 year old. If you want to laugh out loud, listen to Billy Bryson's "Notes From a Small Island" instead or even David Sedaris.

I was a little disappointed. This was the first title I rented and I wasn't sure what to expect. George Carlin has always been a favorite comedian of mine. Some parts were hilarious others not so... I've found I much prefer the novels to the short comedy pieces...

I apologize to Carlin fans, but this one went back in the mail after less than 15 minutes. Not from it being "bad" whatever that means, but I've personally grown very tired of commentary that only detracts, and uses profanity to mask lack or originality. I have the same reaction to much of the stuff coming out of the stand-up comedy world.

Give him some time. This will grow on you and you'll laugh out loud. The guy has guts; you may not agree with him, but you'll admire his courageous cynacism.
