Summary
ONE OF THE TIMES’ 25 BEST AUDIOBOOKS

HBO’s hit series A GAME OF THRONES is based on George R. R. Martin’s internationally bestselling series A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE, the greatest fantasy epic of the modern age. A GAME OF THRONES is the first volume in the series.

Summers span decades. Winter can last a lifetime. And the struggle for the Iron Throne has begun.

As Warden of the north, Lord Eddard Stark counts it a curse when King Robert bestows on him the office of the Hand. His honour weighs him down at court where a true man does what he will, not what he must … and a dead enemy is a thing of beauty.

The old gods have no power in the south, Stark’s family is split and there is treachery at court. Worse, the vengeance-mad heir of the deposed Dragon King has grown to maturity in exile in the Free Cities. He claims the Iron Throne.

such a well written gripping story, I don't think I missed out by not watching it. I have tried to read it before but all the different stories running along side each other made it too much like hard work... listening to the audio version was really enjoyable! Roy Dotrice was an amazing narrator, the combination of the great story and superb narration made it a real page turner figuritivly speaking. can't wait to download the next book!

Listened to it after watching the TV series and I like how it fills in some missing elements. Definitely a good listen, put it on 1.2x speed though :)

The new definition of a novel , plot and characters are uniquely built and developed throughout the storyline.

The story is obviously brilliant what let’s it down is the narrator why oh why does he have to keep mi-pronouncing Joffreys name, and call him Jeffrey. Why does Tirrian have a welsh accent. Why does he mis-pronounce Petyr it’s pronounced peter. It’s very annoying listening to him but I’m hoping he gets better as he reads

Absolutely amazing work! Truly a work of art. It's as if Roy Dutrice was made to narrate this book, it's as close to perfection as you can get in my opinion.

Roy Doltrice as the narrator did an incredible job voicing so many characters. Mostly loved and easy listening. As a fan of the HBO series, the book did so much to enhance and deepen my GoT understanding and relationship I have with it

Audio makes it much more vivid than reading, and the scene is even more exciting than in the series. The narrator is a perfect match to this book
