Summary
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Danielle Steel comes the gripping story of a woman who loses everything-her husband, her home, her sense of self and safety, and her freedom. Sydney Wells's perfect life with her wealthy, devoted husband vanishes when he dies suddenly in an accident. Widowed at forty-nine, she discovers he has failed to include her in his will. With Andrew's vicious daughters in control of his estate, and no home or money, Sydney finds a job in fashion, despite her own designer daughters' warnings. Naive, out of her element, and alone in a world of shady international deals and dishonest people, she is set up by her boss and finds herself faced with criminal prosecution. What happens when you lose everything? Husband, safety, protection, money, and reputation gone, faced with prison, she must rebuild her own life from the bottom to the top again, with honor, resourcefulness, and dignity. Sydney finds herself, as well as courage and resilience. Taking life by the horns, she revives her own career as a talented designer, from New York to Hong Kong, risking all in an exotic, unfamiliar world. She is determined to forge a new life she can be proud of.

I got bored. Had to make myself finish the book as the plot was just so obvious! Even the small details. Don’t think I’ll be reading another Danielle Steele anytime soon... not even when I’m after something easy to read. There are better books for that...

I had not read a book by Danielle Steel in a very long while. In the past, I really enjoyed her books, but then I was pretty young. what did I know? I looked forward to this one with so much enthusiasm that did not get satisfaction. In its defense, it was a relatable story. But it was also a bit emotional to read. Probably a true representation of what can happen in reality. A few lessons to be learnt here though. Never postpone updating your will and testament. You don't get to say what happens to you in life, but your reaction to events and incidents is entirely up to you. Life can get really bumpy sometimes we just have to reposition ourselves and turn those bumps to stepping stones. I got a good peek into the fashion industry which is an entirely new experience for me, so thumbs up on that one. Fall from Grace should probably have been named rise to Grace. Sidney's story started on a bad note and ended with hope of great life. That sounds like a rise to me. Again, just me.

Very repetitive!

I liked the story. I was annoyed by all the repetitive stuff. I don’t feel like you need to repeat the back story all the time. Other than that it was a good book.

It was an easy listening book, a little predictable that there would be a happy ending.

This is a story of resilience. The strength of this main character is amazing. I loved that she kept going after continuous obstacles in life.

A slow, repetitive and uneventful novel. I couldn’t finish it.

This book was hard for me to listen to. It was a bit too long and languid for me. I found it a little too easy to put down and walk away. It would be a good read for someone who likes a book like this but for me I just felt like it was a long book that never really felt like it went anywhere exciting. I have enjoyed many of Danielle Steele books in the past but this book was not for me.

Book is very repetitive as if the reader cannot understand unless the same theme is repeated over 100 times. Smh

Narration is good. Book was slow, repetitive and predictable. Ok for light entertainment.

Slow at the beginning for me and more details of particular things that I cared to hear. It picked up toward the end, but definitely did not like the very end as the word "fate" was used in place of God. Why not give credit where credit is due? Also, wrong narrator for book. His voice was unemotional and sounded like a newscaster reporting something mundane.

This book was okay. The characters were nice... but I had the book figured out after about an hour. I felt like there was a lot plot repeats and the characters went on and on and on.... about the same thing.

Really enjoyed this story - I was really able to identify with the main character on several levels - a lot of realism. Wrong narrator - sounded like a newscaster.
