Summary
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Sylvia Day comes the first novel in the Crossfire series—a provocative masterstroke of abandon and obsession that redefined the meaning of desire, and became a global phenomenon.

Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness...

He was beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I’d never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily...

Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other’s most private wounds...and desires.

The bonds of his love transformed me, even as I prayed that the torment of our pasts didn’t tear us apart...

I could only get through about 2 hours. The narration makes things awkward because the narration is with one woman’s voice and to read the man she goes into a deeper voice lol .. it would be better if an actual man read that part.. it just didn’t do it for me. Sad I wasted a credit on this.. couldn’t bring myself to finish the book.

I really enjoyed listening to the story. It wasn't a complicated listen. I'm fact if I had been reading it, I wouldn't have been able to put it down. It was a real easy listen.

I really liked this book. Can't wait to listen to the rest of the series. This author does a great job of giving the characters real personalities that you feel invested in and you can't help but to cheer on the under dog.

This book was weird. I found the relationship toxic and annoying. And the Narrators “voice” for the man in the book was cringey. Good thing this was free

Sexy, but the book focuses heavy on the characters' mental flaws and background. The book ended awkwardly as well.

I am so freaking tired of stories that portray women as cl*ts with legs who need only the right man to melt them into pools of arousal that can be stirred at will The fact that a woman writes this unbelievable dreck makes me much more disgusted than it would if it had been written by some guy with blue balls and a keyboard. From them at least I expect this level of objectification, from a woman it feels like betrayal. To be clear, I am a sexual dominant dedicated to the BDSM lifestyle. Submission is a gift, deliberately and consciously given by a person strong in their identity, not something pulled from someone made helpless by a direct connection between brain and genitalia. Read this is you are attracted to hormone fiction. Otherwise find work by a person who respects women... and submission.

Good book... but it's was like reading 50 Shades over with a tiny bit of a difference... but it was very well put together! I would just prefer more adventure.

The book seemed to have a lot of gaps and holes in the story line. Taking advice from a sex addict, who bisexual life is a disaster, neurotic mess, really. Always use a male narrator for his part.

I liked the book overall, but thought the beginning was kind of confusing. It didn't really explain enough and then the characters were inseparatable. By the middle to the end, it had explained more and I enjoyed it.

I don't know which book was written first, 50 Shades or this one - they are too much alike, almost like one author gave the other author an idea to write a book and only changed the story enough that they were not copying word for word.

Copy and paste of 50 shades twisted around. Ideas of an alpha male role and a women who appears weaker than she truly is. Speak of stalking and phone tracking. Frustrating trying to find a good read after 50 shades. Extremely disappointed with this selection.

I have never so anxiously awaited for a sequel like I have for this one. It is no understatement when I say that I was literally counting down the hours to its release date, desperately clinging onto the little snippets that the author fed us along the way. And, for me, it was definitely worth the wait. Eva and Gideon's relationship is still relatively in its early stages. Their love for each other is all-consuming, possessive, raw, almost primal in so many ways - they constantly crave each other's touch, presence, affection. The intensity of their connection might make it appear like they have been together for a while but the issues before them are those of a new couple. Trust is their biggest hurdle at this point, giving rise to endless scenes of jealousy and bouts of self-doubt. Their insecurities make them explosive with one another, violently addicted to each other and yet endlessly passionate.

Pretty good. Too similar to fifty shades. Would have like more story-less sex. At some point, one has to say, ok, I get it. Keep with the story line
